Avoid Trades Courses Scams!

When choosing your training provider – select with care and beware.

The training sector has many bona fide and worthy companies operating legitimately and in consumers’ best interests. There are some, however, that are not entirely scrupulous and some who don’t always deliver on their promises. Please do the homework before you commit. Remember the old adage: measure twice, cut once…..

It is vital that you check the course being offered is ‘fit for purpose’. Do look carefully and in detail at the course offering. Make sure it is supported by meaningful certifications (such as City & Guilds, BPEC etc.) and leads to a recognised level of qualification (such as an NVQ at Level 2 or 3).

An important part of gaining trades skills and being prepared for assessments and exams is properly structured practical training in fully equipped training centres. Do check that there is a centre within a sensible commuting distance and that it has fully qualified trainers and assessors.
Finally, it is always wise to check feedback from other trainees – there should be plenty of comment and testimonial available. Happy students are usually a reflection of good quality training.
